ACB Team Denied Entry at Kejriwal’s Home Amid AAP’s Poaching Claim
The ongoing political drama in Delhi took a new turn on Tuesday when the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) team arrived at former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s residence to investigate the alleged poaching of AAP candidates by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, the team was denied entry by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders, citing the lack of legal papers.
The drama unfolded after AAP leaders alleged that the BJP had attempted to poach 16 of its candidates with an offer of ₹15 crore each. The BJP, on the other hand, has denied the allegations, calling them baseless and an attempt to malign its image.
On Tuesday, the ACB team, led by its chief, reached Kejriwal’s residence in Delhi’s Moti Bagh area to investigate the allegations. However, they were met with resistance from AAP leaders, who refused to let them enter the premises.
“We’ve no papers, no one will be allowed inside till they have a legal notice,” said AAP legal cell chief Sanjeev Nasiar, as quoted by Hindustan Times.
AAP leader Sanjay Singh, who was at the ACB office to file a complaint, also claimed that the ACB team lacked the necessary documentation to conduct the investigation.
“The ACB team came to Kejriwal’s residence without any notice or papers. We refused to let them in as they had no authority to do so,” Singh said.
The ACB team’s visit to Kejriwal’s residence came after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena ordered a probe into AAP’s poaching charge. Saxena, who is the administrative head of Delhi, has asked the ACB to investigate the matter and submit a report within a week.
The development has sparked a heated debate in the political circles, with both AAP and BJP trading charges. AAP leaders have accused the BJP of trying to buy out their candidates, while the BJP has denied the allegations and called them an attempt to divert attention from the party’s own corruption.
The alleged poaching of AAP candidates has raised serious questions about the integrity of the election process in Delhi. The AAP, which has been in power in the national capital for over three years, is seeking re-election in the upcoming polls.
The case has also sparked concerns about the role of money in politics, with many questioning how a party with limited resources can afford to bribe candidates from a rival party.
The ACB’s investigation into the matter is likely to be closely watched, as it could have significant implications for the political landscape in Delhi. The case has also raised questions about the transparency and accountability of the election process in the national capital.
As the drama unfolds, one thing is clear: the political temperature in Delhi is set to rise in the coming days. With the elections just around the corner, the AAP and BJP are likely to engage in a fierce battle to win over voters.
In the meantime, the ACB’s investigation into the alleged poaching of AAP candidates will continue to be closely watched. The outcome of the probe will have significant implications for the political landscape in Delhi, and could potentially shape the outcome of the upcoming elections.
