J&K Police Rescue 13 Youths Trapped in Myanmar Job Scam
In a daring operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police have rescued 13 youths who were duped by a cyber job scam and trafficked to Myanmar. The youths, mostly from the Kashmir Valley, were lured by fake job advertisements on social media, promising them work abroad. However, after reaching Thailand, they were taken to Myanmar, where they were forced to work in inhuman conditions.
The dramatic rescue operation was carried out by the J&K Police in collaboration with the Myanmar authorities. The police acted swiftly to track down the victims and bring them back to India. According to sources, the youths were rescued from a remote area in Myanmar and brought back to Jammu and Kashmir.
The ordeal of the 13 youths began when they responded to fake job advertisements on social media. The ads promised them high-paying jobs abroad, and they were assured of a smooth and hassle-free relocation process. The youths, mostly in their early 20s, were from various districts of Kashmir, including Srinagar, Baramulla, and Anantnag.
After responding to the ads, the youths were asked to pay a certain amount of money as “processing fees” and “visa fees”. They were also required to provide personal documents, including their passports and Aadhaar cards. Once they had paid the fees, they were given fake documents and told to fly to Thailand.
However, as soon as they reached Thailand, they were taken to Myanmar, where they were forced to work in inhuman conditions. They were made to work long hours without any proper payment or facilities. The youths were also subjected to physical and mental abuse by their traffickers.
The J&K Police received a tip-off about the youths’ situation from the Myanmar authorities. Acting on the information, the police launched a rescue operation, which was carried out in collaboration with the Myanmar police and other agencies.
According to the police, the rescue operation was a challenging one, requiring careful planning and execution. The police had to navigate through dense jungles and remote areas to reach the victims. They also had to overcome language barriers, as the youths were unable to communicate with the locals in Myanmar.
Once the youths were rescued, they were provided with food, clothing, and medical assistance. They were also counselled by psychologists to help them deal with the trauma they had undergone.
The rescued youths are now undergoing counselling to help them recover from the trauma they have faced. The police have also launched an investigation into the case to identify and prosecute the traffickers.
The rescue operation is a testament to the bravery and professionalism of the J&K Police. It is also a reminder of the growing threat of cyber job scams and human trafficking in the region. The police have urged people to be cautious when responding to job advertisements on social media, and to verify the authenticity of the ads before paying any money.
The J&K Police have also appealed to the public to report any suspicious job advertisements or human trafficking cases to the authorities. The police have set up a dedicated helpline and email id for people to report such cases.
The rescue operation has sent a strong message to the traffickers that the authorities will not tolerate such crimes. It has also given a new lease of life to the 13 youths who were trapped in the web of deceit.
