A massive fire broke out in a residential house in Chamalwas Shalgadi, Banihal, Jammu and Kashmir, on the evening of March 14, 2025. The fire, which is believed to have started at around 7:30 pm, has engulfed a significant portion of the house, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Fire and Emergency Services, along with local residents, are working tirelessly to extinguish the flames and bring the situation under control.
According to eyewitnesses, the fire started suddenly and spread rapidly, catching the residents off guard. The villagers, who were in their homes at the time, were forced to evacuate the area quickly to avoid any potential harm. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported so far, but the cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The Banihal police station received the distress call at around 7:45 pm, and a team of fire tenders and emergency responders was dispatched to the scene immediately. The rescue operation, which is still underway, is being led by the Fire and Emergency Services department, with support from the local administration and police.
“It’s a massive blaze, and we’re doing everything possible to contain it,” said a spokesperson for the Fire and Emergency Services department. “We’ve deployed multiple fire tenders to the scene, and our teams are working to douse the flames and prevent any further spread.”
The fire department is using a combination of water and foam to combat the blaze, and the situation is being monitored closely to ensure that the fire does not spread to adjacent buildings.
The rescue operation is not only focused on extinguishing the flames but also on evacuating the residents and ensuring their safety. The local administration has set up a relief camp for the displaced families, where they are being provided with food, shelter, and medical assistance as needed.
“We’re doing everything possible to support the affected families,” said a local official. “We’re working closely with the fire department and other agencies to ensure that the situation is brought under control as quickly as possible.”
The extent of the damage caused by the fire is still being assessed, but it is believed to be significant. The house, which is a two-story structure, has been partially destroyed, and there is a risk of structural collapse.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown, and an investigation is underway to determine the origin of the blaze. The local authorities are urging anyone with information or footage of the fire to come forward and share it with the authorities.
