Pak’s Fanatical Mindset is Well Known: India on Pak’s Reference to J&K at UN
The perpetual debate between India and Pakistan has taken a new turn at the United Nations General Assembly, where India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, has criticized Pakistan’s former Foreign Secretary’s statement on Jammu and Kashmir. In a strongly worded statement, Harish has accused Pakistan of having a “fanatical mindset” and warned that frequent references to the issue will not validate Pakistan’s claim or justify its practice of cross-border terrorism.
Pakistan’s former Foreign Secretary, Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi, had made a statement at the UN General Assembly, reiterating Pakistan’s stance on Jammu and Kashmir. India, however, has been quick to respond, terming the statement as “unjustified” and “baseless”. Harish, in his statement, highlighted the fact that Pakistan has been making frequent references to the issue, but these references do not hold any ground in the international community.
“Pakistan’s fanatical mindset is well known,” Harish said, emphasizing that India will not be swayed by Pakistan’s repeated attempts to internationalize the issue. “These frequent references will not validate Pakistan’s claim or justify its practice of cross-border terrorism,” he added.
Pakistan’s constant harping on the Kashmir issue is nothing new. The country has been using the issue as a tool to deflect attention from its own internal issues and to garner international sympathy. However, India has consistently maintained that the issue is an internal matter and that Pakistan has no right to interfere.
India’s position on Kashmir is clear: the country is committed to resolving the issue through bilateral talks with Pakistan. However, Pakistan’s willingness to engage in meaningful dialogue has been lacking, and the country has instead chosen to resort to violence and terrorism.
Pakistan’s claim of occupying a part of Jammu and Kashmir is also baseless, according to India. The country has been maintaining that Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is a disputed territory, and that it has been occupied by Pakistan through aggression and military might.
Pakistan’s refusal to vacate PoK is a clear indication of its unwillingness to resolve the issue peacefully. Instead, the country has been using the territory to launch terrorist attacks on Indian soil and to spread anti-India propaganda.
India has been calling out Pakistan’s double standards on terrorism for years. While Pakistan is quick to accuse India of human rights violations in Kashmir, it is silent on its own human rights abuses in PoK. The country has been accused of perpetrating gross human rights violations, including forced conversions, forced marriages, and forced disappearances.
In conclusion, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Parvathaneni Harish, has rightfully criticized Pakistan’s fanatical mindset and its repeated attempts to internationalize the Kashmir issue. Pakistan’s claim of occupying a part of Jammu and Kashmir is baseless, and the country’s refusal to vacate PoK is a clear indication of its unwillingness to resolve the issue peacefully.
India will continue to stand firm on its position, and will not be swayed by Pakistan’s repeated attempts to deflect attention from its own internal issues. The country will continue to work towards resolving the issue through bilateral talks, and will not allow Pakistan to use the issue as a tool to spread terrorism and violence.
