Policeman & BJP Leader Slap Each Other Amid Argument in K’taka, Video Emerges
A shocking video has surfaced showing an altercation between a Karnataka Police Sub-Inspector and a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, where the two men are seen slapping each other. The incident took place in Chitradurga district of Karnataka, when a group gathered around midnight on Friday.
According to reports, the policeman, identified as Gadilingappa, was on duty when he went to disperse the group that had gathered in the area. However, the BJP leader, Hanumanta Gowda, allegedly abused Gadilingappa, which led to a heated argument between the two.
The altercation escalated to a physical fight, with both men slapping each other multiple times. The video, which has gone viral on social media, shows the two men engaged in a fierce argument, with bystanders trying to intervene to calm them down.
The police have since registered a case against Gowda, who is a local BJP leader, under sections 353 (assault or use of criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) of the Indian Penal Code.
Gadilingappa, the police sub-inspector, has also filed a complaint against Gowda, alleging that he was abused and assaulted by the BJP leader. The police have launched an investigation into the incident, and Gowda has been summoned for questioning.
The incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many people expressing shock and dismay at the behavior of the two individuals involved. The police have also come under fire for not taking action against Gowda earlier, despite allegations of abuse and intimidation against him.
The BJP has distanced itself from the incident, stating that it does not condone the behavior of its leader. “We take a strong stand against any kind of violence or abuse,” said a party spokesperson. “We expect our leaders to maintain dignity and respect for all individuals, including public servants.”
The Indian Police Service (IPS) association has also condemned the incident, stating that it is unacceptable for any individual, including a politician, to abuse or assault a police officer. “Police officers are expected to maintain law and order, and it is their duty to protect citizens, including politicians,” said an IPS association spokesperson. “We expect politicians to respect the law and maintain dignity and decorum at all times.”
The incident has raised questions about the growing trend of violence and abuse against public servants in Karnataka. While the police have taken action against Gowda, many are calling for more stringent measures to be taken to prevent such incidents in the future.
In a state where crime and corruption are rampant, the respect and dignity of public servants are crucial to maintaining law and order. When politicians and public servants engage in violent altercations, it sends a dangerous message to the public and undermines the rule of law.
As we move forward, it is imperative that we take a stand against violence and abuse, and promote a culture of respect and dignity for all individuals, regardless of their position or status. We must also ensure that those who engage in such behavior are held accountable and face the full force of the law.
