Beef Smuggling Racket Busted, 10 Arrested in Himachal & U’khand
In a major crackdown, an inter-state beef smuggling racket that was allegedly involved in slaughtering dozens of cows in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand was busted on Monday. According to reports, around 10 people from the racket were arrested, while the police are still searching for the remaining individuals involved.
The racket, which was operating secretly for quite some time, was exposed after body parts of slaughtered cows were found in the Yamuna river, sparking outrage and protests across the region. Hindu organizations held protests on Monday, demanding stern action against those involved in the illegal activity.
The police investigation revealed that the racket was being run by a gang of smugglers who would secretly slaughter cows in rural areas and then transport the meat to other states. The gang would use fake documents and vehicles to evade detection, making it a challenging task for the authorities to track them down.
The Himachal Pradesh police, in collaboration with their Uttarakhand counterparts, launched a joint operation to crack down on the racket. The operation, which was conducted under the supervision of senior police officers, resulted in the arrest of 10 individuals, including the main accused.
“We have arrested 10 people, including the kingpin of the racket, and are searching for the remaining individuals involved,” said a senior police officer. “The racket was operating on a large scale, and we are working to recover the stolen animals and confiscate the illegal meat.”
The police investigation also revealed that the racket was being funded by a wealthy businessman from Delhi, who was using the illegal meat to supply to restaurants and hotels in the national capital.
The beef smuggling racket has sparked widespread outrage in the region, with many calling for stricter laws to prevent such illegal activities. The incident has also raised concerns about the safety of cows and the environment, as the illegal slaughter of animals can lead to the spread of diseases and pollution.
The Himachal Pradesh government has promised to take strict action against those involved in the racket and has also announced a compensation package for the affected cow owners. The government has also ordered a probe into the matter to identify the gaps in the system that allowed the racket to operate for so long.
The arrest of the 10 individuals involved in the beef smuggling racket is a major victory for the police, but the fight against illegal activities like this is far from over. The authorities need to remain vigilant and take proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
