J&K Leaders Urge Centre to Act on 52,000 Hajj Slot Cut
In a sudden move that has left thousands of Indian pilgrims in distress, Saudi Arabia has cancelled 52,000 Hajj slots for Indian pilgrims. The decision has sparked widespread outrage and concern, with leaders from Jammu and Kashmir’s ruling and opposition parties urging the Centre to take swift action to ease the distress.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti have called upon the Centre to intervene and restore the cancelled slots, while National Conference President Farooq Abdullah has appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak with Saudi Arabia to resolve the issue.
The cancellation of Hajj slots has left many Indian pilgrims, particularly from Jammu and Kashmir, in a state of uncertainty and distress. The cancellation was announced by the Saudi Arabian Hajj Ministry, citing a surge in demand and the need to maintain the safety and security of pilgrims.
However, J&K leaders have strongly condemned the decision, saying it is unfair and unjust to cancel slots for Indian pilgrims at such short notice. They have demanded that the Centre takes immediate action to resolve the issue and ensure that the pilgrims are not left stranded.
Mehbooba Mufti, the PDP chief, has written to the Prime Minister, urging him to intervene and restore the cancelled slots. She has also demanded that the Centre takes steps to ensure that Indian pilgrims are not discriminated against and are treated with dignity and respect.
“Canceling Hajj slots at the last minute is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the Indian government,” Mufti said. “We urge the Centre to take immediate action to resolve this issue and ensure that our pilgrims are not left stranded.”
Omar Abdullah, the J&K Chief Minister, has also expressed concern over the cancellation of Hajj slots and has urged the Centre to take swift action to restore them. “The cancellation of Hajj slots is a matter of great concern for us and we urge the Centre to take immediate action to resolve this issue,” Abdullah said.
Farooq Abdullah, the National Conference President, has also appealed to the Prime Minister to speak with Saudi Arabia to resolve the issue. “We urge the Prime Minister to speak with Saudi Arabia and ensure that the cancelled slots are restored,” Abdullah said. “It is the duty of the Centre to protect the interests of Indian pilgrims and ensure that they are treated with dignity and respect.”
The cancellation of Hajj slots has also sparked concerns over the safety and security of Indian pilgrims. Many pilgrims have expressed fear and anxiety over the decision, saying that it has left them in a state of uncertainty and distress.
The Saudi Arabian Hajj Ministry has announced that it will not be able to accommodate all the Indian pilgrims who had booked their slots, citing a surge in demand and the need to maintain the safety and security of pilgrims. However, many pilgrims have expressed disappointment and frustration over the decision, saying that it is unfair and unjust to cancel slots at such short notice.
The J&K government has also announced that it will be sending a delegation to Saudi Arabia to discuss the issue and ensure that the interests of Indian pilgrims are protected. The delegation will include senior officials and leaders from the ruling and opposition parties.
As the row over the cancelled Hajj slots continues to simmer, J&K leaders are urging the Centre to take swift action to resolve the issue and ensure that the pilgrims are not left stranded. With the Hajj season just around the corner, the cancellation of slots has left many pilgrims in a state of uncertainty and distress, and it is imperative that the Centre takes immediate action to resolve the issue.
