Microsoft & Govt Launch AI Training Program Across 6 Indian States
In a significant move to empower women and bridge the digital divide, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Microsoft to launch the ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative. This program offers a comprehensive 240-hour AI training curriculum, along with certifications and career support, specifically designed for women. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen digital skills and create pathways to high-growth careers in the AI industry.
The program aims to train over 20,000 women across six Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, and Telangana. The training will be delivered through a network of training partners, including educational institutions, vocational training centers, and women’s organizations. The program is expected to not only enhance the employability of women in the AI industry but also promote gender equality and bridge the existing gender gap in the tech sector.
The AI Careers for Women program is designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the rapidly growing AI industry. The curriculum will cover topics such as machine learning, data science, cloud computing, and artificial intelligence, as well as soft skills and industry-specific knowledge. Upon completion of the program, participants will receive certifications from Microsoft and MSDE, which will be recognized by employers across the country.
The program is part of Microsoft’s efforts to empower women in technology and promote digital inclusion. According to recent statistics, women make up only 28% of the tech workforce in India, and this program aims to increase this number by providing women with access to AI training and career opportunities.
The MSDE and Microsoft have identified six states for the program, which were selected based on their potential for economic growth and development. These states have a high demand for skilled talent in the AI industry, and the program aims to meet this demand by providing trained and certified women professionals.
The AI Careers for Women program is expected to have a significant impact on the lives of thousands of women across the six states. It will not only provide them with new career opportunities but also empower them to take on leadership roles in the AI industry. The program will also promote gender equality and challenge the stereotypes and biases that prevent women from pursuing careers in technology.
The program partners will also provide career support and mentorship to the participants, which will help them to transition into the AI industry and build a successful career. This support will include job placement assistance, career counseling, and access to industry networks and events.
The AI Careers for Women program is a welcome initiative that has the potential to create a significant impact on the lives of thousands of women. It is a testament to the commitment of the MSDE and Microsoft to promoting digital inclusion and empowering women in technology. The program is expected to inspire a new generation of women to pursue careers in AI and other emerging technologies, and it will help to create a more inclusive and diverse tech industry in India.
