Microsoft & Govt Launch AI Training Program Across 6 Indian States
In a significant move to empower women and bridge the digital skills gap, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Microsoft to launch the ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative. This program offers a comprehensive 240-hour AI training curriculum, along with certifications and career support, specifically designed for women. The goal of this initiative is to strengthen digital skills and create pathways to high-growth careers in the AI industry.
The program will be rolled out across six Indian states, including Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Odisha, and Telangana. Over the next two years, the program aims to train over 20,000 women in these states, equipping them with the skills to excel in the AI industry.
The training program will cover a wide range of topics, including AI fundamentals, machine learning, data analytics, and cloud computing. The curriculum is designed to provide women with the skills and knowledge needed to work on AI projects and develop their own AI-powered solutions. The program will also focus on soft skills, including communication, teamwork, and problem-solving, to help women build a strong foundation for their future careers.
One of the key features of the program is its emphasis on career support and mentorship. Participants will have access to a network of mentors and industry experts who will provide guidance and support throughout their training journey. The program will also offer career placement services, helping participants to secure job opportunities in the AI industry.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a significant step towards bridging the gender gap in the Indian technology sector. While women make up a significant proportion of the workforce in India, they are underrepresented in the technology sector, particularly in leadership roles. The program aims to address this imbalance by providing women with the skills and opportunities they need to succeed in the AI industry.
The program has received widespread support from the government and industry stakeholders. “This initiative is a significant step towards empowering women and promoting digital inclusion in India,” said Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. “We are committed to creating a workforce that is diverse, skilled, and equipped to drive India’s growth and development.”
Microsoft has also welcomed the initiative, highlighting the importance of diversity and inclusion in the technology sector. “We believe that diversity and inclusion are critical to driving innovation and success in the technology sector,” said Anant Maheshwari, President, Microsoft India. “This program is a significant step towards creating a more inclusive and diverse workforce in India, and we are proud to be a part of it.”
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a testament to the power of public-private partnerships in driving social change. By partnering with the government and industry stakeholders, Microsoft is able to leverage its expertise and resources to make a meaningful impact on the lives of women in India.
As the technology sector continues to evolve and grow, it is essential that we prioritize diversity and inclusion. The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a significant step towards achieving this goal, and we can expect to see a positive impact on the lives of women in India.
