Several Delhi Markets to Remain Shut Tomorrow Over J&K Terror Attack
The recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, has sent shockwaves across the country, and now, traders in Delhi have decided to take a stand against this heinous act. As a mark of protest, several markets in Delhi will remain shut on Friday, as traders have called for a bandh to condemn the attack.
The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has announced that the trade associations of Delhi have called for a “complete shutdown” of markets. This decision has been taken to express solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam attack and to condemn the terror act.
“The brutal terrorist attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam has caused deep sorrow and anger among the trading community,” said Praveen Khandelwal, Secretary General of CAIT. “We condemn this inhuman act and demand the government to take immediate and strict action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.”
The Pahalgam attack, which took place on Wednesday, saw three terrorist attackers open fire on a group of tourists, killing at least 10 people and injuring several others. The attack has sparked widespread outrage and condemnation across the country, with people from all walks of life expressing their shock and grief.
The traders’ association has also demanded that the government take steps to ensure the safety and security of citizens, particularly in tourist areas. “The government must take immediate steps to secure the lives of innocent citizens and tourists in tourist areas,” said Khandelwal.
This is not the first time that traders in Delhi have come together to protest against a terror attack. In the past, they have organized bandhs and protests against similar incidents. However, this time, the traders’ association has called for a complete shutdown of markets, which is a rare occurrence.
The decision to shut down markets has been widely welcomed by the trading community, with many traders expressing their solidarity with the victims of the Pahalgam attack. “We cannot tolerate such inhuman acts and must stand united against terrorism,” said a trader from Chandni Chowk, one of the busiest markets in Delhi.
The shutdown is expected to affect several markets in Delhi, including Chandni Chowk, Karol Bagh, and Lajpat Nagar. These markets are popular tourist destinations and are known for their vibrant atmosphere and bustling streets.
While the shutdown is expected to cause some inconvenience to tourists and locals alike, many people are willing to support the traders’ association in their protest against the Pahalgam attack. “We must stand together against terrorism and support the traders in their protest,” said a local resident.
The government has also condemned the Pahalgam attack and has assured that it will take all necessary steps to ensure the safety and security of citizens. The police have launched an investigation into the attack and have arrested several suspects.
As the country mourns the loss of life in the Pahalgam attack, the traders’ association has called for unity and solidarity against terrorism. The shutdown of markets in Delhi is a powerful symbol of this solidarity and a message to the perpetrators of the attack that they will not be tolerated.
