RCB Jump to Top of IPL 2025 Points Table
Sunday’s match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi turned out to be a thrilling encounter, with RCB emerging victorious by six wickets. This win not only lifted RCB’s spirits but also propelled them to the top of the points table in the ongoing IPL 2025 season.
DC, who won the toss and elected to bat first, struggled to get their innings going. Despite the efforts of their top-order batsmen, they managed to score only 162/8 in their 20 overs. The RCB bowlers, led by Suyash Prabhudesai, who picked up three wickets, kept the DC batsmen on a tight leash, making it difficult for them to score freely.
In response, RCB’s chase was led by the experienced Krunal Pandya, who scored an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls. Pandya’s innings was studded with seven fours and two sixes, as he played a crucial role in taking RCB home. The 36-year-old left-hander, who has had a stellar IPL career, once again proved why he is considered one of the most destructive batsmen in the tournament.
Pandya got support from his opening partner, Rajat Patidar, who scored 24 off 23 balls. The duo put together a 51-run partnership, which laid the foundation for RCB’s successful chase. The RCB middle-order batsmen, including Glenn Maxwell and Shahbaz Ahmed, also chipped in with valuable contributions, as RCB chased down the target in 18.3 overs.
With this win, RCB jumped to the top of the points table in the IPL 2025 season, with 14 points and a net run rate (NRR) of 0.521. This is their first win at the top of the table this season, and it will be a huge morale booster for the team.
The win was also a testament to RCB’s strong team effort, with each department contributing to the victory. The bowling unit, led by Suyash Prabhudesai, did an excellent job of restricting DC to a manageable total, while the batting unit, led by Krunal Pandya, showed the required application and skill to chase down the target.
For DC, this loss will be a disappointing one, given their strong performance in the previous matches. They will need to regroup and come back stronger in their next match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25.
In the points table, RCB now lead the pack, followed closely by DC, who have 12 points from nine matches. The top four teams in the table are separated by just two points, making the competition extremely tight.
Here is the current points table:
