ASUS & VIDYA Launch Digital Literacy Drive for 6,000+ Students
In today’s digital age, where technology is an integral part of our daily lives, it is crucial for children and youth to have the necessary skills to navigate the digital world confidently. Unfortunately, not all students have access to digital literacy training, especially those from marginalized regions. To bridge this gap, ASUS, a leading technology company, has launched a digital literacy drive in partnership with VIDYA, a non-profit organization, to equip over 6,000 students from Grade 1-10 and youth with essential digital skills.
The Digital Literacy Program, designed by ASUS and VIDYA, aims to provide students and youth with the necessary skills and digital expertise to excel in today’s tech-driven world. The program is specifically tailored to cater to the needs of underprivileged students in Western India, where access to digital education is limited.
The program will focus on interactive and project-based learning, using an age-appropriate curriculum that is both engaging and effective. The curriculum will cover a range of topics, including basic computer skills, online safety, digital citizenship, and essential software applications. The goal is to empower students and youth with the skills they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world.
The program will also provide students with hands-on experience with ASUS’s latest technology products, including laptops and tablets. This will not only help them develop their digital skills but also give them a chance to learn about the latest technology trends and innovations.
According to a report by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), only 51.2% of the world’s population has access to the internet. This digital divide has a significant impact on children’s education, employment opportunities, and overall socio-economic development. The ASUS and VIDYA Digital Literacy Program aims to bridge this gap by providing underprivileged students with the digital skills they need to thrive in today’s digital world.
The program is part of ASUS’s corporate social responsibility initiative, which focuses on promoting digital literacy and education. The company has been actively involved in various digital literacy initiatives worldwide, including programs in Africa, Asia, and Europe.
“We are thrilled to partner with VIDYA to launch this digital literacy program in Western India,” said Mr. Senthil Kumar, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at ASUS. “Our goal is to empower underprivileged students with the digital skills they need to succeed in today’s tech-driven world. We believe that digital literacy is a fundamental right, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of these students.”
VIDYA, a non-profit organization, has been working towards promoting education and digital literacy in India for over a decade. The organization has established a strong network of educational institutions and community centers across Western India, providing access to digital education and resources to underprivileged students.
“We are excited to partner with ASUS to launch this digital literacy program,” said Ms. Nalini Gundu, CEO of VIDYA. “Our organization has been working tirelessly to promote education and digital literacy in India, and this program is a significant step forward in achieving our goals. We believe that digital literacy is essential for socio-economic development, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of these students.”
The ASUS and VIDYA Digital Literacy Program is a testament to the company’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and education. The program is a significant step forward in bridging the digital divide and empowering underprivileged students with the digital skills they need to succeed in today’s tech-driven world.
