ASUS & VIDYA Launch Digital Literacy Drive for 6,000+ Students
In a remarkable initiative to bridge the digital divide, ASUS, a world-renowned PC and laptop manufacturer, has partnered with VIDYA, a non-profit organization, to launch a comprehensive digital literacy drive for over 6,000 students from underprivileged backgrounds in Western India. This ambitious program aims to equip these young minds with essential digital skills, empowering them to navigate the rapidly evolving digital landscape.
The Digital Literacy Program, designed specifically for children and youth in marginalised regions, will focus on imparting digital literacy and skilling initiatives through an age-appropriate curriculum. The interactive and project-based learning approach will enable students from Grade 1 to 10, as well as youth, to develop a strong foundation in digital technology.
The program’s primary objective is to ensure that these students from disadvantaged backgrounds have equal access to digital opportunities, which are increasingly becoming essential for personal and professional growth. By equipping them with digital expertise, ASUS and VIDYA aim to break the cycle of digital exclusion and provide a brighter future for these young individuals.
The initiative is set to benefit students from various aspects, including:
- Digital Skills Development: The program will focus on teaching students basic digital skills, such as typing, online safety, and basic coding. This will enable them to navigate the digital world with confidence and ease.
- Project-Based Learning: Interactive project-based learning will be used to engage students and make learning more enjoyable and relevant. This approach will help students develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and creativity.
- Age-Appropriate Curriculum: The curriculum will be designed specifically for each age group, ensuring that students receive relevant and engaging content that meets their unique needs and abilities.
- Access to Digital Resources: Students will have access to a range of digital resources, including educational software, online platforms, and digital tools, to enhance their learning experience.
The Digital Literacy Program is a testament to ASUS’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and digitally literate society. The company’s involvement in this initiative reflects its dedication to using technology to make a positive impact on society.
In a statement, ASUS India’s Country Manager, Arnold Su, emphasized the importance of digital literacy in today’s world. “Digital literacy is no longer a luxury, but a necessity in today’s connected world. We are proud to partner with VIDYA to launch this program and empower underprivileged students with the digital skills they need to succeed.”
VIDYA, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting education and social change, is equally excited about the partnership. “We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and digital literacy. Our partnership with ASUS will help us achieve this goal and make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of students,” said VIDYA’s CEO, Rohan Parikh.
The Digital Literacy Program is set to make a significant difference in the lives of these young students, providing them with the tools and skills they need to thrive in an increasingly digital world. As the program unfolds, it will be fascinating to track its progress and the positive impact it has on the lives of these underprivileged students.
