BHEL Bags New Orders from MAHAGENCO & Hitachi Energy India
In a significant development, Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) has secured two major orders, further solidifying its position as a leading player in the Indian power sector. The orders, valued at a combined ₹16,015 crore, are from MAHAGENCO and Hitachi Energy India.
Order from MAHAGENCO
The first order is from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) for the Balance of Plant (BTG) package of the 2×660 MW Koradi Thermal Power Station. This massive order, valued at ₹8,000 crore, is a testament to BHEL’s expertise in designing and executing complex power projects. The Koradi Thermal Power Station is one of the largest power projects in India, and BHEL’s involvement in the project will ensure its timely and efficient execution.
The BTG package includes the design, manufacture, and construction of various equipment and systems, such as boilers, turbines, generators, and electrical systems. BHEL’s expertise in these areas will be crucial in ensuring the project’s success, and the company’s reputation for delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget will be put to the test.
Order from Hitachi Energy India
The second order is in consortium with Hitachi Energy India for the BF800 HVDC Project. The project involves the design and execution of an HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) link to transmit 6000 MW of renewable energy from the Western Region to the Eastern Region of India. This project is a significant milestone in India’s efforts to integrate renewable energy sources into its grid and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels.
As part of the consortium, BHEL will be responsible for the design, manufacture, and construction of the HVDC converter stations, transmission lines, and other associated equipment. Hitachi Energy India, on the other hand, will be responsible for the design and supply of the HVDC converter equipment. The collaboration between the two companies will ensure that the project is executed efficiently and effectively.
The BF800 HVDC Project is a critical component of India’s plans to increase its renewable energy capacity and reduce its carbon footprint. The project will enable the transmission of renewable energy from one region to another, reducing the need for fossil fuels and decreasing greenhouse gas emissions.
Significance of the Orders
The orders from MAHAGENCO and Hitachi Energy India are significant for BHEL in several ways. Firstly, they demonstrate the company’s ability to execute complex power projects, including thermal and renewable energy projects. Secondly, they showcase BHEL’s expertise in designing and executing HVDC projects, which are critical for the integration of renewable energy sources into the grid.
The orders also highlight BHEL’s commitment to supporting India’s efforts to increase its renewable energy capacity and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. As the country moves towards a low-carbon economy, BHEL is well-positioned to play a key role in this transition.
In conclusion, BHEL’s orders from MAHAGENCO and Hitachi Energy India are a testament to the company’s expertise, capabilities, and commitment to supporting India’s power sector. As the company continues to execute these complex projects, it is likely to emerge as a leader in the Indian power sector, driving growth and development in the country.
