BHEL Bags New Orders from MAHAGENCO & Hitachi Energy India
Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), a leading heavy electrical equipment company, has secured two major orders that further strengthen its position in the Indian power sector. The orders, valued at a total of ₹8,000 crore, have been received from Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) and Hitachi Energy India, respectively.
The first order, worth ₹8,000 crore, has been placed by MAHAGENCO for the Balance of the Plant (BoP) package of the 2×660 MW Koradi Thermal Power Station. This massive project is a testament to BHEL’s capabilities in designing and executing large-scale thermal power projects. The BoP package includes the design, manufacture, and supply of equipment such as boilers, turbines, generators, and electrical auxiliaries, as well as the installation and commissioning of the entire plant.
The Koradi Thermal Power Station, located in Nagpur, Maharashtra, is one of the largest thermal power stations in the country. The new order will enable BHEL to further strengthen its presence in the region and contribute to the country’s efforts to increase its power generation capacity.
The second order, worth an undisclosed amount, has been placed by Hitachi Energy India, in consortium with BHEL, for the BF800 HVDC Project. This project involves the design and execution of an HVDC (High-Voltage Direct Current) link to transmit 6,000 MW of renewable energy from the northern region of India to the southern region. The HVDC link will play a crucial role in stabilizing the grid and ensuring a reliable supply of renewable energy to the country.
The BF800 HVDC Project is a significant milestone for BHEL, as it marks the company’s entry into the high-voltage direct current transmission segment. The project will not only demonstrate BHEL’s capabilities in HVDC transmission but also enable the company to leverage its expertise in designing and executing large-scale power transmission projects.
BHEL’s ability to secure these two major orders is a testament to its commitment to delivering high-quality products and services to its customers. The company’s extensive experience in the power generation and transmission sector, combined with its expertise in designing and executing large-scale projects, has earned it a reputation as a reliable and trusted partner for many power sector companies.
The orders also highlight BHEL’s ability to adapt to changing market conditions and customer requirements. The company’s focus on innovation and technology has enabled it to stay ahead of the curve and deliver solutions that meet the evolving needs of the power sector.
In a statement, BHEL’s Managing Director, Atul Sobti, said, “We are delighted to have secured these two major orders, which further strengthen our position in the Indian power sector. We are committed to delivering high-quality products and services to our customers and are confident that our expertise and capabilities will enable us to successfully execute these projects.”
The orders from MAHAGENCO and Hitachi Energy India are a significant boost to BHEL’s order book and will enable the company to continue its growth trajectory in the coming years. As the power sector continues to evolve and new technologies emerge, BHEL is well-positioned to play a key role in shaping the future of the industry.
