Goons mobbed, threatened him & my son: Ayesha as husband booked over fight in Goa
The night of October 9, 2022, will forever be etched in the memories of actress Ayesha Takia Azmi and her family as a “night of horror”. Her husband, Farhan Azmi, son of Maharashtra MLA Abu Azmi, was involved in a fight with locals in Goa, which led to a police complaint being filed against him. Ayesha has come out to share the harrowing details of the incident, stating that her husband and son were brutally bullied by a group of “Goan goons” who mobbed, threatened, and tormented them for hours.
According to reports, Farhan was involved in a dispute with a group of locals at a beachside shack in Goa. The altercation escalated, and Farhan was allegedly beaten up by the group. The police were called in to control the situation, and an FIR was registered against Farhan under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
Ayesha, who was not present at the scene, has spoken out about the traumatic experience her family had to go through. In an interview with a leading daily, she recounted the events of that fateful night, stating, “It was a night of horror. My husband and son were brutally bullied… Goan goons mobbed, threatened and tormented them for hours. They were almost 150 people, and my son was crying and begging them to leave him alone.”
Ayesha further added that Farhan was so terrified that he called the police for help multiple times, but the authorities took their time to arrive at the scene. “My husband was so scared that he kept calling the police, but they didn’t come. They were busy having tea and chatting with the locals,” she alleged.
The actress also expressed her dismay at the way the police conducted themselves during the incident. “The police were very slow in responding to the situation. They didn’t take any action against the goons, and instead, they started questioning my husband and son,” she said.
Ayesha’s account of the incident has sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the alleged behavior of the locals and calling for justice for Farhan and her son. “This is absolutely unacceptable! No one deserves to be bullied and threatened like this,” tweeted one user.
The incident has also raised questions about the safety and security of tourists in Goa, particularly those from other states. “This incident highlights the need for better policing and security measures in Goa, especially for visitors from other states,” commented another user.
In response to the allegations, the Goa Police have maintained that they took prompt action to control the situation and have lodged a complaint against Farhan under the relevant sections of the IPC. “We received a complaint from a local who alleged that Farhan and his friends were creating a ruckus at the beachside shack. We sent our personnel to the spot and took statements from the parties involved,” said a police official.
The incident has also sparked controversy over the alleged involvement of local goons in the fight. “The way the locals behaved was unacceptable. They should not have taken the law into their own hands,” said another police official.
As the investigation into the incident continues, Ayesha has expressed her gratitude to the police for taking action against the perpetrators. “I want to thank the police for finally taking action against the goons. I hope that justice is served, and my family can move on from this traumatic experience,” she said.
The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of maintaining law and order in tourist destinations like Goa. It is essential that the authorities take concrete steps to ensure the safety and security of visitors, lest such incidents become the norm.
