2 Foreigners Among Tourists Killed by Terrorists in J&K’s Pahalgam: Reports
The picturesque town of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a horrific terror attack, leaving 27 tourists dead and several others injured. The attack, which took place on Tuesday, was carried out by a group of terrorists who infiltrated the area and opened fire on the tourists. The attack has sent shockwaves across the country and abroad, with the world condemning the heinous act of terrorism.
According to reports, one Israeli national and one Italian national were among the 27 tourists killed in the attack. The victims also included people from various parts of India, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu. The death toll is expected to rise as several others are being treated for injuries at local hospitals.
The attack was claimed by the Pakistan-based terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba’s offshoot, The Resistance Front. The group has been involved in several terror attacks in the past, including the 2019 Pulwama attack that killed over 40 CRPF personnel.
According to eyewitnesses, the terrorists arrived in the area around 5 pm on Tuesday and started firing indiscriminately at the tourists who were enjoying a trek in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam. The tourists were mostly from the states of Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu, and had come to the area to enjoy the scenic beauty of the valley.
The attack was carried out by around four to six terrorists, who were armed with automatic rifles and grenades. The terrorists reportedly used the tourists as human shields, making it difficult for the security forces to launch a counter-attack.
The security forces, including the army, police, and paramilitary personnel, were quick to respond to the attack and launched a counter-attack to neutralize the terrorists. The operation was carried out with precision, and the terrorists were killed in a fierce gunbattle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has strongly condemned the attack, saying that it was a “cowardly” act of terrorism. He also assured the families of the victims that the government would provide all necessary assistance to them.
