ABVP Slams KIIT’s Notice for Nepali Students to Leave Campus
The death of a Nepali student at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar has sparked outrage and protests, with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) leading the charge. The student, who was found dead in his hostel room, was identified as 22-year-old Pranab Kumar Yadav, a second-year student of the university’s School of Technology.
The ABVP, a student wing of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has been vocal about its demands for a thorough investigation into the student’s death and has slammed KIIT University’s notice instructing Nepali students to leave the campus.
According to sources, the university administration had issued the notice on February 16, citing “security concerns” as the reason for the students’ departure. However, the ABVP has termed the notice as “illegal” and an “attack on Bharat-Nepal relations.”
The student organization, which has been at the forefront of the protest, wrote on its official Twitter handle, “Asking Nepali students to vacate the campus is illegal and an attack on Bharat-Nepal relations. We demand a thorough investigation into the death of Pranab Kumar Yadav and an apology from KIIT University.”
The ABVP has also demanded that the university administration take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all students, including those from Nepal. The organization has accused the university of trying to “cover up” the student’s death and has demanded that the authorities provide a detailed report on the investigation.
The protests, which began on February 17, have gained momentum, with hundreds of students from various colleges and universities in Bhubaneswar joining the ABVP in demanding justice for Pranab Kumar Yadav.
The ABVP’s protests have also received support from various student organizations and political parties, with many expressing solidarity with the student’s family and demanding a thorough investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, KIIT University has maintained that the notice was issued to ensure the safety and security of all students, including those from Nepal. In a statement, the university administration said, “The notice was issued to maintain the security and discipline on the campus. We are committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all students, including those from Nepal.”
However, the ABVP and other student organizations have rejected the university’s explanation, terming it as “insincere” and “an attempt to cover up the truth.”
The incident has sparked a heated debate on social media, with many expressing their outrage and shock over the student’s death. The hashtag #JusticeForPranabKumarYadav has been trending on Twitter, with many demanding justice for the student and his family.
As the investigation into the student’s death continues, the ABVP and other student organizations are likely to continue their protests and demands for justice. The incident highlights the need for a thorough investigation into the student’s death and for the university administration to take immediate action to ensure the safety and security of all students.
