Beef Smuggling Racket Busted, 10 Arrested in Himachal & U’khand
In a major crackdown on illegal animal slaughter, a large-scale beef smuggling racket operating in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand was busted on Monday, with police arresting around 10 accused individuals. The racket, which allegedly involved the slaughter of dozens of cows, was uncovered after body parts of the animals were found in the Yamuna river, sparking protests from Hindu organizations.
The operation, led by the Special Task Force (STF) of the Himachal Pradesh Police, was conducted in multiple locations across the two states. The accused individuals, including truck drivers, middlemen, and butchers, were arrested from various districts, including Solan, Shimla, and Dehradun.
According to the police, the racket was operating for several months, with the accused individuals involved in smuggling cattle from Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand to other states, where they were slaughtered and sold as beef. The operation was allegedly carried out with the help of corrupt officials, who were bribed to look the other way.
The STF officials said that the investigation began after a tip-off was received about a large consignment of beef being transported from Himachal Pradesh to Delhi. A team of police officials was dispatched to intercept the truck, and during the subsequent search, they found body parts of slaughtered cows in the vehicle.
Further investigation led to the discovery of several other trucks and vehicles involved in the racket, as well as the arrest of several accused individuals. The police also recovered a large quantity of beef, as well as equipment and tools used for slaughtering animals.
The discovery of the beef smuggling racket has sparked outrage among Hindu organizations, which have been protesting against the sale of beef in the region. Protests were held in several cities, including Shimla and Dehradun, with protesters demanding strict action against those involved in the racket.
The police have assured that they will continue to investigate the case and arrest all those involved in the racket. The arrested individuals are being interrogated to gather more information about the operation and to identify the masterminds behind the racket.
The busting of the beef smuggling racket is a significant achievement for the police, as it highlights their commitment to combating illegal animal slaughter and protecting the interests of the animal lovers. The case also underscores the need for stricter laws and enforcement mechanisms to prevent such illegal activities in the future.
