J&K Police Rescue 13 Youths Trapped in Myanmar Job Scam
In a daring operation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has rescued 13 youths who were duped by a cyber job scam and trafficked to Myanmar. The youths, who were lured by fake job ads on social media, promising work abroad, were taken to Myanmar via Thailand. The authorities acted swiftly to bring them back to their families, who were anxiously waiting for their return.
According to the police, the youths were approached by the scammers through social media platforms, where they were promised lucrative jobs abroad. The scammers claimed to be representatives of a reputed company and convinced the youths to pay a hefty amount for a visa and other necessary documents. The youths, who were desperate for a better life, fell prey to the scam and parted with their hard-earned money.
However, once they reached Thailand, they were taken to Myanmar, where they were forced to work in inhumane conditions. The youths were subjected to physical and mental torture, and were not paid any wages. They were also not provided with any basic amenities, including food and shelter.
The police received a tip-off about the youths’ whereabouts from one of the victims’ families, who had been searching for their loved one for weeks. A team of police officers, led by Superintendent of Police (SP) Ashok Kumar, was dispatched to Myanmar to rescue the youths.
The police team, which included officials from the J&K Police, Indian Embassy in Myanmar, and the State Police, worked tirelessly to locate the youths and bring them back to India. The team had to navigate through challenging terrain and overcome numerous obstacles to reach the youths.
After several days of searching, the police team finally located the youths in a remote area of Myanmar. The team worked with the local authorities to rescue the youths and bring them back to India.
The rescued youths, who are now undergoing counselling, were brought back to India on Tuesday evening. They were received by their families at the Srinagar International Airport, where they were greeted with tears of joy.
The SP, Ashok Kumar, credited the swift action of the police team and the cooperation of the local authorities for the successful rescue operation. “We received a tip-off about the youths’ whereabouts and worked tirelessly to locate them. We are grateful to the local authorities for their cooperation and support,” he said.
The J&K Police has launched an investigation into the scam and has arrested several suspects. The police are also working to track down the masterminds behind the scam.
The rescue operation has sent a strong message to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly the youth, to be cautious of such scams and not to fall prey to false promises of lucrative jobs abroad.
The J&K Police has also advised the people to verify the authenticity of job offers and to be wary of suspicious emails and messages. “We urge the people to be vigilant and not to fall prey to such scams. We are committed to protecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir from such threats,” said the SP.
The rescue operation has also highlighted the need for stricter laws and measures to deal with cyber crimes. The J&K Government has announced plans to set up a special task force to deal with cyber crimes and to provide training to the police personnel to tackle such crimes.
The J&K Police’s swift action in rescuing the 13 youths has earned praise from all quarters. The rescue operation is a testament to the police’s commitment to protecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to bringing back those who have been duped by such scams.
