In a gesture of sympathy and support, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced a compensation of ₹10 lakh each for the families of two individuals from the state who lost their lives in the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. This announcement comes as a ray of hope for the bereaved families, who are still grappling with the loss of their loved ones.
The terrorist attack on July 10 in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, claimed the lives of 17 people, including two individuals from Karnataka. The attack was carried out by terrorists who opened fire on a bus carrying Amarnath Yatra pilgrims, leaving a trail of destruction and despair.
The victims from Karnataka have been identified as Rakesh Kumar, a 35-year-old from Mysuru, and Rakesh Kumar Singh, a 28-year-old from Bengaluru. The families of the two victims have been facing immense grief and financial difficulties following the loss of their breadwinners.
In a bid to provide some solace to the families, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah took the initiative to speak to them over the phone to express his condolences. He also assured them of all possible assistance and support from the state government.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of our citizens in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. I have spoken to the families of the two victims and assured them of our support and assistance. We will provide a compensation of ₹10 lakh each to the families, and also ensure that they receive all necessary aid and facilities,” said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
The mortal remains of Rakesh Kumar Singh are expected to arrive in Bengaluru on Wednesday, and the state government has made necessary arrangements to ensure a dignified farewell to the deceased. The government has also ensured that the families of the victims receive all necessary support and assistance, including financial aid, medical care, and counseling services.
The attack in Pahalgam has sent shockwaves across the country, and the people of Karnataka have come together to express their outrage and solidarity with the families of the victims. The state government has also assured that it will do everything in its power to ensure that the perpetrators of the attack are brought to justice.
The attack in Pahalgam is a stark reminder of the ongoing terrorist threat in Jammu and Kashmir, and the need for the government and security agencies to take concrete steps to prevent such incidents in the future. The people of Karnataka, in particular, have been traumatized by the attack, and the state government’s decision to provide compensation and support to the families of the victims is a welcome move.
As the state government continues to provide support and assistance to the families of the victims, it is essential that the people of Karnataka come together to show their solidarity and support. The attack in Pahalgam is a tragedy that has affected not just the families of the victims but also the entire state, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that we stand united in the face of adversity.
