Serial Rapist Whose Death Penalty Was Cancelled Rapes & Kills 11-Year-Old in MP
In a shocking and disturbing turn of events, a 40-year-old man who had previously escaped the death penalty for his heinous crimes has allegedly committed another heinous act of rape and murder. Ramesh, who was serving a 10-year jail sentence for raping a five-year-old girl in 2003, had his death penalty for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in 2014 cancelled. However, it seems that his depraved nature was far from reformed, as he has now been accused of raping and murdering an 11-year-old hearing- and speech-impaired girl in Madhya Pradesh.
The incident took place on January 15, 2023, in a village in Mandla district of Madhya Pradesh. The 11-year-old victim, who was hearing- and speech-impaired, was playing outside her home when Ramesh allegedly dragged her away and took her to an isolated spot. According to the police, Ramesh sexually assaulted the girl and then strangled her to death.
The police were informed about the incident by the victim’s family, who had been searching for her when they found her body. The post-mortem examination revealed that the girl died due to asphyxiation, and the forensic report confirmed that she was sexually assaulted.
Ramesh was arrested on January 22, 2023, after a thorough investigation and surveillance. He had attempted to escape after the crime and had gone to the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, where he was finally tracked down and apprehended.
The accused has a previous history of sexual offenses, having spent 10 years in jail for raping a five-year-old girl in 2003. In 2014, he was given the death penalty for the rape and murder of an eight-year-old girl. However, his death penalty was cancelled, and he was released from jail after serving his sentence.
The case has sent shockwaves across the country, with many calling for stricter laws and punishments for sexual offenders. The incident also raises questions about the effectiveness of the criminal justice system in preventing such crimes.
The Madhya Pradesh Police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have charged Ramesh with the murder and rape of the 11-year-old girl. The police are also investigating whether Ramesh was involved in any other sexual offenses during his time in jail.
The case has also highlighted the vulnerability of children with disabilities, who are often more susceptible to sexual abuse and exploitation. The incident is a grim reminder of the need for greater awareness and protection for children with disabilities, who are often marginalized and neglected by society.
In a statement, the Madhya Pradesh Police Commissioner said that the accused would be produced in court and would face the maximum punishment under the law. The police are also providing counseling and support to the victim’s family and are working to ensure that justice is served.
The incident is a stark reminder of the need for greater vigilance and awareness about sexual offenses, particularly against children with disabilities. It is essential that we work together to create a society that is safe and secure for all, especially the most vulnerable members of our community.
