Serial Rapist Whose Death Penalty Was Cancelled Rapes & Kills 11-year-old in MP
In a shocking and disturbing incident, a 40-year-old man who had previously been convicted of rape and sentenced to death, has allegedly committed another heinous crime. The accused, Ramesh, has been arrested by the police after he went on the run following the rape and murder of an 11-year-old hearing- and speech-impaired girl in Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the 11-year-old girl was playing outside her home in a village in Mandsaur district when Ramesh, who was known to the family, lured her with sweets and kidnapped her. The police were informed when the girl failed to return home, and a search operation was launched.
The investigation revealed that Ramesh had taken the girl to a nearby field, where he allegedly raped and murdered her. The police found the girl’s body with signs of brutality, and forensic evidence collected from the scene led them to Ramesh.
What makes this case even more disturbing is that Ramesh had a previous conviction for rape. In 2003, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for raping a five-year-old girl. However, in 2014, he was sentenced to death for raping an eight-year-old girl. The death penalty was later cancelled, allowing him to be released from prison.
Ramesh’s escape and subsequent arrest are a testament to the loopholes in the system. After committing the heinous crime, Ramesh went to the Kumbh Mela, a major pilgrimage site in Allahabad, where he was able to evade detection for some time.
The police have registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and have charged Ramesh with murder, rape, and other related offenses. The family of the victim has demanded that Ramesh be given the death penalty again, citing the gravity of his crimes.
The case highlights the need for a stronger and more effective criminal justice system, particularly when it comes to protecting the rights and safety of children. It also raises questions about the effectiveness of the POCSO Act, which was implemented to protect children from sexual abuse.
The incident has sent shockwaves across the country, with many calling for stricter laws and harsher punishments for those who commit such heinous crimes. The government has promised to take action to prevent such incidents in the future, including increasing the number of police personnel and improving the forensic infrastructure.
In the meantime, the family of the victim is grappling with the loss of their loved one, and the community is struggling to come to terms with the brutality of the crime. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of vigilance and the need for a society that is committed to protecting the most vulnerable among us.
