Serial Rapist Whose Death Penalty Was Cancelled Rapes & Kills 11-Year-Old in MP
In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves across the country, a 40-year-old man who had escaped the death penalty for his previous rape convictions has been accused of raping and murdering an 11-year-old hearing- and speech-impaired girl in Madhya Pradesh. The accused, Ramesh, had spent 10 years in jail for raping a five-year-old in 2003 and had received the death penalty for raping an eight-year-old in 2014. However, his death sentence was cancelled and he was released from prison.
The horrific crime came to light on February 21 when the 11-year-old girl’s body was found in a field in the Mandsaur district of Madhya Pradesh. An investigation was launched and the police were able to identify the accused through a thorough investigation and forensic evidence.
According to the police, Ramesh had lured the girl to a secluded area under the guise of helping her with her studies. He then allegedly raped and murdered her, leaving her body in the field.
The police said that Ramesh had been on the run for several days after committing the crime and had even attended the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, before being caught.
Ramesh’s previous convictions were for raping a five-year-old girl in 2003 and an eight-year-old girl in 2014. He was given the death penalty for the latter crime, but his sentence was cancelled by the Supreme Court in 2020.
The case has sparked outrage and anger across the country, with many calling for stricter punishments for rapists and better protection for children. The Madhya Pradesh government has also promised to take action to ensure that Ramesh is given the maximum punishment for his crimes.
The incident has also highlighted the need for better protection for children with disabilities, who are often more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation. The 11-year-old girl who was murdered was hearing- and speech-impaired, and it is believed that she may have been targeted because of her disability.
The case has also raised questions about the effectiveness of the country’s criminal justice system, particularly in cases involving child rape and murder. Many are calling for greater accountability and transparency in the system, as well as more resources and support for victims and their families.
In a statement, the Madhya Pradesh police said that they were working to ensure that Ramesh is given the maximum punishment for his crimes. “We are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the accused is brought to justice and given the maximum punishment,” said a police spokesperson.
The case has also sparked a national debate about the need for stricter punishments for rapists and child abusers. Many are calling for the death penalty to be reinstated for child rapists, while others are advocating for longer prison sentences and greater accountability for those who commit these crimes.
The incident is a grim reminder of the reality of child rape and murder in India, and the need for greater action and awareness to prevent such crimes from happening in the future. It is also a reminder of the importance of protecting children with disabilities, who are often more vulnerable to abuse and exploitation.
