SIT Probing Sambhal Violence Visits SP MP Barq’s House
In a significant development, the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing last year’s Sambhal violence visited the residence of SP MP Ziaur Rehman Barq on Tuesday to serve a notice. However, the team had to return empty-handed as no one was found at the residence, officials confirmed.
The SIT’s visit to Barq’s house comes in the wake of the recent arrest of President of Shahi Jama Masjid Management Committee Zafar Ali in connection with the violence. The SIT is investigating the violence that occurred in Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh in November last year, in which several people were injured and properties were damaged.
The SIT’s visit to Barq’s residence is significant as the MP has been linked to the violence. Barq, who is a member of the Samajwadi Party, has been accused of making provocative statements that led to the violence. The MP has, however, denied any involvement in the violence and has claimed that he was not present in the area when the violence occurred.
The SIT’s visit to Barq’s house is part of its ongoing investigation into the violence. The team had earlier gathered evidence from the crime scene and had also recorded statements of several witnesses.
The SIT is investigating the role of several people in the violence, including Barq and Zafar Ali. Ali was arrested earlier this week and is currently in police custody. The police have also recovered several incriminating documents and evidence from his residence.
The SIT’s investigation into the violence is being overseen by the Uttar Pradesh Police. The police have promised to leave no stone unturned to bring the perpetrators of the violence to justice.
The Sambhal violence had occurred on November 25 last year, when a group of people, allegedly led by Barq, had gathered at the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal to protest against the government’s policies. The protests had turned violent, with several people being injured and properties being damaged.
The violence had raised concerns about law and order in the state and had led to widespread condemnation from various quarters. The Uttar Pradesh government had also announced a compensation package for the victims of the violence.
In the aftermath of the violence, the Uttar Pradesh Police had launched an investigation and had arrested several people in connection with the violence. The SIT was formed to investigate the role of Barq and Ali in the violence.
The SIT’s visit to Barq’s house is a significant development in the investigation and is likely to shed more light on the role of the MP in the violence. The investigation is ongoing and the police are likely to continue to gather evidence and record statements of witnesses to build a strong case against the perpetrators.
