BJP Accuses Kejriwal of Renaming Delhi CMO’s X Handle, Seeks Probe
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal of renaming the official X handle of the Delhi Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) to ‘Arvind Kejriwal at work’ (@kejriwalAtWork). The BJP has demanded an immediate probe into the matter, calling it a “direct loot of government money” and “digital loot”.
The controversy arose when Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva tweeted that the CMO’s official handle was renamed by Kejriwal, allegedly using government resources. Sachdeva claimed that the handle was deactivated and replaced with the new one, which is not official.
“This is a direct loot of government money. This is digital loot,” Sachdeva said in a statement. “We’ve demanded from LG that IT department of Delhi government should immediately file an FIR.”
The BJP has been vocal about its criticism of Kejriwal’s government, and this latest accusation is just the latest in a series of verbal sparring matches between the two parties.
The CMO’s official handle was previously @CMODelhi. The new handle, @kejriwalAtWork, is now active on Twitter, and it appears that Kejriwal has been using it to share updates about his work as Chief Minister.
While the Delhi government has not officially commented on the matter, sources close to the government have claimed that the handle was renamed as part of a “digital revamp” of the CMO’s social media presence.
However, the BJP has refused to accept this explanation, claiming that the renaming of the handle is a misuse of government resources for personal gain.
“This is a clear case of misuse of power and public money,” said Sachdeva. “The IT department should immediately take action against those responsible for this digital loot.”
The BJP’s accusations have sparked a heated debate on social media, with many taking to Twitter to share their thoughts on the matter.
Some have defended Kejriwal, claiming that the renaming of the handle is a legitimate move to revamp the CMO’s social media presence.
Others have accused Kejriwal of using government resources for personal gain, citing the recent controversy over the alleged misuse of government funds for Kejriwal’s personal expenses.
The controversy has also raised questions about the accountability of the Delhi government’s social media handles.
As of now, it remains unclear whether the Delhi government will investigate the matter or take any action against those responsible.
In the meantime, the BJP is continuing to push for an inquiry into the matter, claiming that it is a clear case of “digital loot” and “misuse of power”.
The controversy is a reminder of the importance of transparency and accountability in government, particularly when it comes to the use of public resources.
As the debate continues, one thing is clear: the renaming of the CMO’s X handle has sparked a heated debate that is unlikely to die down anytime soon.
