Congress Workers Protesting Over LPG Price Hike Detained in B’luru
The increasing burden on the common man’s pocket has taken a new turn as the Youth Congress workers in Bengaluru protested against the Central government over the recent LPG price hike. The protesters were detained by the Bengaluru Police outside the BJP office, a move that has sparked outrage among the people.
According to a recent report, the cost of LPG cylinders has been hiked by ₹50 for both Ujjwala and non-Ujjwala consumers, effective from Monday. This sudden increase has left many consumers feeling burdened, and the Youth Congress workers have taken it upon themselves to voice their concerns.
On Tuesday, a group of Youth Congress workers gathered outside the BJP office in Bengaluru to protest against the price hike. Brandishing placards and banners, the protesters shouted slogans against the Central government, demanding that they roll back the price hike and provide relief to the people.
However, the police were not having it. As the protesters began to march towards the office, they were met with a strong show of force. The police, in a bid to maintain law and order, detained the protesters and took them away in police vans.
A video shared by ANI on social media showed the police detaining the protesters and taking them away. The video has gone viral, with many people expressing their outrage and disappointment at the police’s handling of the situation.
“This is nothing but an attempt to suppress the voice of the people,” said a protester, who wished to remain anonymous. “We are not asking for the moon here. We just want the government to take care of the common man’s interests. Instead, they are trying to silence us.”
The LPG price hike has been a contentious issue in recent times, with many people feeling that it is an unfair burden on their shoulders. The move has also sparked off a debate about the government’s priorities, with many people questioning why the prices of essential commodities are being hiked while the government is raking in huge sums of money through taxes and other means.
The Youth Congress workers, who were detained by the police, were demanding that the government roll back the price hike and provide relief to the people. They also demanded that the government take steps to reduce the inflation rate and provide employment opportunities to the youth.
The protest was not limited to just the LPG price hike. The protesters also raised issues related to job creation, education, and healthcare, all of which are areas that are affecting the common man’s life.
The government, however, has been unyielding in its stance. In a statement, the government said that the price hike was necessary to ensure the sustainability of the LPG programme. The government also said that it was taking steps to increase the availability of LPG cylinders and reduce the waiting period for new connections.
While the government’s stance may be understandable, the protesters feel that it is just an excuse to burden the common man. They feel that the government is not doing enough to alleviate the suffering of the people and is instead focused on lining its own pockets.
As the standoff between the government and the protesters continues, it remains to be seen what the outcome will be. Will the government be forced to roll back the price hike, or will it continue to dig in its heels? Only time will tell.
