Rahul should read & learn the Constitution: BJP’s Chandrasekhar
In a recent tweet, BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his criticism of the Waqf Bill, introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government. Chandrasekhar’s tweet, which has been making rounds on social media, reads: “One thing I recommend to Constitution-waving, India-bashing Rahul Gandhi is that he reads, learns the Constitution. PM Narendra Modi’s [Waqf Bill]…ensures that Waqf land is used for the benefit of poor Muslims not rich Cong [Congress] builder/politicians.”
The Waqf Bill, also known as the Waqf Properties (Management and Regulation) Bill, aims to regularize the management of Waqf properties, which are properties held by Muslims for religious or charitable purposes. The Bill seeks to ensure that these properties are used for the benefit of the poor and marginalized sections of society, rather than being misused by wealthy individuals or politicians.
Rahul Gandhi, who has been a vocal critic of the Bill, has termed it as an attempt to “grab Waqf land” and “destroy the Waqf system”. However, Chandrasekhar’s tweet suggests that Gandhi is not familiar with the contents of the Bill and is instead relying on false information.
Chandrasekhar’s criticism of Gandhi is not new. The BJP leader has been a vocal critic of the Congress leader’s lack of understanding of constitutional principles. In the past, Chandrasekhar has accused Gandhi of being “constitutionally illiterate” and of making ” constitutionally incorrect” statements.
Gandhi’s criticism of the Waqf Bill is also not the first time he has clashed with the Modi government over a constitutional issue. In the past, Gandhi has been critical of the government’s handling of issues such as Article 370, which grants special status to Jammu and Kashmir, and the Citizenship Amendment Act, which provides citizenship to non-Muslim migrants from neighboring countries.
However, Chandrasekhar’s tweet suggests that Gandhi’s criticism of the Waqf Bill is based on a flawed understanding of the Bill’s contents. The BJP leader’s recommendation that Gandhi “reads and learns the Constitution” is a clear indication that he believes Gandhi is not familiar with the basics of India’s constitutional framework.
Chandrasekhar’s criticism of Gandhi is not limited to his understanding of the Constitution. The BJP leader has also accused Gandhi of being “anti-India” and of making statements that are “divisive” and “sectarian”. Chandrasekhar has been a vocal critic of Gandhi’s speeches and statements, which he believes are designed to polarize society and create divisions between different communities.
In conclusion, Chandrasekhar’s tweet is a clear indication that the BJP is willing to take on the Congress over constitutional issues. The BJP leader’s criticism of Gandhi’s understanding of the Constitution is a clear indication that the party believes Gandhi is not familiar with the basics of India’s constitutional framework. The tweet also suggests that the BJP is willing to engage in a constitutional debate with the Congress, and is willing to challenge Gandhi’s claims that the Waqf Bill is an attempt to “grab Waqf land” and “destroy the Waqf system”.
