Meghalaya CM Urges Youth to Solve Problems Using Science & Tech
On National Science Day 2025, Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma emphasized the importance of empowering young minds to tackle real-world problems using science and technology. He stressed the need for investing in the future of the youth, supporting innovative ideas, and increasing prize money for competitions that encourage creativity and problem-solving.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister highlighted the state’s efforts to promote education, sports, and music. He also announced a significant support of ₹18 crore for 3,000 artists through the Meghalaya Government’s Music and Dance Department (MGMP).
The Chief Minister’s emphasis on innovation-driven solution-oriented learning reflects the growing need for young minds to develop skills that are relevant to the modern world. In today’s fast-paced and rapidly changing world, technology has become an integral part of our daily lives, and it is essential to equip the next generation with the skills to harness its power.
Science and technology have the potential to transform industries, improve lives, and solve some of the world’s most pressing problems. However, the pace of technological advancement is outstripping our ability to educate and train the workforce. This is where the role of youth comes in.
Youth are naturally curious, and they have a unique ability to think outside the box and come up with innovative solutions to complex problems. By encouraging and supporting young minds to pursue science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, we can tap into their potential and create a generation of problem-solvers who can drive positive change.
The Chief Minister’s emphasis on increasing prize money for competitions is also a step in the right direction. By providing incentives for young minds to participate in competitions and showcase their skills, we can encourage them to take on challenges and push the boundaries of what is possible.
Meghalaya has been taking significant steps to promote education and innovation in the state. The government has established the Meghalaya Science and Technology Council to promote scientific research and innovation in the state. The council has been working with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, industry, and government agencies, to identify areas of research and innovation that can benefit the state.
The state has also been promoting entrepreneurship and innovation through various initiatives, including the Meghalaya Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub (MEI-Hub). The MEI-Hub provides a platform for young entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and products, and access funding and mentorship to take their ventures to the next level.
In addition to promoting education and innovation, the state has also been making efforts to promote sports and music. The government has established the Meghalaya Sports Council to promote sports in the state, and has been supporting athletes and sports teams through various initiatives.
The Meghalaya Government’s Music and Dance Department (MGMP) is another initiative that has been instrumental in promoting music and dance in the state. The department provides training and support to artists, and has been instrumental in promoting traditional music and dance forms in the state.
The Chief Minister’s announcement of ₹18 crore support for 3,000 artists through the MGMP is a significant step towards promoting the arts in the state. This support will not only provide financial assistance to artists but also help to preserve and promote traditional music and dance forms in the state.
In conclusion, the Chief Minister’s emphasis on science, technology, and innovation is a step in the right direction. By investing in young minds, supporting innovative ideas, and increasing prize money for competitions, we can empower the next generation to tackle real-world problems and drive positive change.
As the Chief Minister said, “Science and technology are the building blocks of the future. It is essential that we invest in the future of our youth, support innovative ideas, and increase prize money for competitions that encourage creativity and problem-solving.”
By working together, we can create a brighter future for our youth and empower them to make a positive impact on the world.
