Tablets Seized in Telangana for Violating Drug Regulations
In a recent development, the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) officials in Ramagundam, Peddapalli District, have detected the product RedFer-XT Tablets (Ferrous Ascorbate, Folic Acid Tablets & Zinc Tablets) circulating in the market. The said product was falsely manufactured under a food license (FSSAI license) and falsely claimed to be a food product/nutraceutical, said DCA officials.
The DCA seized a large quantity of these tablets from a godown in Ramagundam, which is a clear violation of the drug regulations. The officials stated that the product was being sold without any valid license or approval from the Drugs Controller or the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission.
According to the officials, the RedFer-XT Tablets were being marketed as a food product, but upon inspection, it was found that the product contained pharmaceutical ingredients, including ferrous ascorbate, folic acid, and zinc. The packaging and labeling of the product also did not conform to the standards set by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI).
The DCA officials have taken strong action against the manufacturer and the seller of the product, and a case has been registered against them under various sections of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940. The officials have also seized the raw materials, machinery, and other equipment used in the manufacturing process.
This incident highlights the need for strict enforcement of drug regulations and the importance of ensuring that all products, including food supplements and nutraceuticals, are manufactured and marketed in compliance with the relevant laws and regulations.
The DCA officials have also cautioned consumers to be aware of such fake products and to always verify the authenticity of the products before purchasing them. The officials have also advised consumers to check the labeling and packaging of the product, and to ensure that it is approved by the relevant authorities.
This incident is not an isolated one. There have been several instances in the past where fake and spurious drugs have been detected in the market, which has led to serious health concerns and even fatalities.
The DCA officials have appealed to consumers to report any suspicious or counterfeit products to the authorities immediately. The officials have also assured that they will take all necessary steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future.
In conclusion, the seizure of RedFer-XT Tablets in Telangana is a clear violation of drug regulations and highlights the need for strict enforcement of laws and regulations to ensure the safety and quality of products. The DCA officials have taken strong action against the manufacturer and seller of the product, and consumers are advised to be cautious and verify the authenticity of products before purchasing them.
