Title: Drop Tripathi, stop using Ashwin in powerplay: Srikkanth on CSK
The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been witnessing some thrilling matches, and the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are one of the teams that have been making headlines with their performances. However, former Indian batsman Krishnamachari Srikkanth has some suggestions for the team, which could help them improve their game. In a recent interview, Srikkanth spoke about the changes CSK should make in their playing XI, and his views on Ravichandran Ashwin’s bowling style.
According to Srikkanth, CSK should bring in Devon Conway and Anshul Kamboj in place of Jamie Overton and Rahul Tripathi, respectively. He feels that Conway’s batting skills could be an asset to the team, and Kamboj’s bowling could provide an additional spin option. “I think CSK should play Devon Conway and Anshul Kamboj. Conway is a very good batsman, and Kamboj is a very good bowler. I think they should play these two players,” Srikkanth said.
However, Srikkanth’s biggest suggestion is to drop Rahul Tripathi from the playing XI. He feels that Tripathi has not been able to perform consistently for the team and that CSK should look for alternative options. “I think CSK should drop Rahul Tripathi. He has not been able to perform consistently, and I think they should look for alternative options,” Srikkanth said.
Another area where Srikkanth feels CSK needs improvement is in the bowling department, particularly with regards to Ravichandran Ashwin. Srikkanth believes that Ashwin is an excellent bowler, but that he should not be bowling in the powerplay overs. Instead, Ashwin should be used in the middle overs, where he can be more effective. “With regards to Ravichandran Ashwin, don’t drop him, but stop him from bowling in the powerplay,” he stated. Srikkanth added, “Between 7-18th over, Ashwin can be effective with Ravindra Jadeja and Noor Ahmad.”
Srikkanth’s views on Ashwin’s bowling style are based on his own experience as a batsman. He believes that Ashwin’s style of bowling is more suited to the middle overs, where batsmen are more likely to be settled and looking to score runs. In the powerplay overs, batsmen are often more aggressive and looking to take risks, which makes it more difficult for Ashwin to get wickets. “Ashwin is a very good bowler, but he is not a powerplay bowler. He is more effective in the middle overs, where batsmen are more settled and looking to score runs,” Srikkanth said.
In conclusion, Srikkanth’s suggestions for CSK are focused on improving their batting and bowling departments. By bringing in Conway and Kamboj, and dropping Tripathi, CSK could gain some additional firepower in their batting line-up. Additionally, by using Ashwin in the middle overs and not in the powerplay, CSK could get more value out of their bowler. Only time will tell if these suggestions will be taken on board by the CSK management, but they are certainly worth considering.
