Man Utd make contact with Arsenal & Chelsea target Cunha for ₹688 cr: Report
Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Wolves’ Matheus Cunha to discuss a potential summer move to Old Trafford. The 22-year-old Brazilian forward has been a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea, but it seems that the Red Devils are now in the mix to secure his services.
According to reports, Manchester United have made an approach to Wolves to discuss a £62.5-million (approximately ₹688-crore) move for Cunha. This is a significant amount, but it’s worth noting that Cunha signed a new contract with Wolves in January, which included a release clause of £62.5-million. This means that if a club meets this valuation, Wolves are obligated to sell the player.
Cunha’s contract with Wolves runs until 2029, but it seems that the club has agreed to sell him this summer if a suitable offer comes in. The youngster has made a significant impact in the Premier League since joining Wolves from Hertha Berlin in 2021, scoring 12 goals and providing 11 assists in 62 appearances.
Manchester United have been linked with several signings this summer, including Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane and Tottenham’s Harry Kane. However, Cunha would be an exciting addition to the squad, providing a different type of attacking threat to what the club already has.
Cunha’s style of play is reminiscent of Manchester United’s previous strikers, such as Romelu Lukaku and Zlatan Ibrahimovic. He is a physical presence on the pitch, with a strong hold-up game and the ability to hold up the ball and bring others into play. He is also a clinical finisher, with a keen eye for goal.
Arsenal and Chelsea have both been linked with Cunha in the past, but it seems that Manchester United are now the front-runners to sign him. The Gunners have been searching for a new striker all summer, with Nicolas Pepe and Alexandre Lacazette both being linked with moves away from the Emirates.
Chelsea, on the other hand, have been linked with a number of strikers, including Erling Haaland and Lautaro Martinez. However, it seems that they may be focusing on other areas of the pitch, with a new left-back and midfielder reportedly being targeted.
Manchester United, on the other hand, have been active in the transfer market this summer, signing Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane already. Cunha would be a great addition to the squad, providing depth and competition for places up front.
It’s worth noting that Manchester United’s interest in Cunha may not be a done deal just yet. The club’s manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is known for his patience in the transfer market, and it’s possible that the club may wait until the last minute to make a move for the Brazilian.
However, if Manchester United are willing to meet Wolves’ valuation, it’s hard to see why they wouldn’t make a move for Cunha. He is a talented young player with a bright future ahead of him, and he would be an exciting addition to the squad.
Only time will tell if Manchester United are able to secure Cunha’s signature, but one thing is for sure – the Red Devils are in for an exciting summer of transfer activity.
