ASUS & VIDYA Launch Digital Literacy Drive for 6,000+ Students
In a bid to bridge the digital divide and empower the next generation, ASUS, a global leader in the technology industry, has announced the commencement of its Digital Literacy Program for children and youth in the marginalized regions of Western India. The program, launched in partnership with VIDYA, a non-profit organization, aims to equip over 6,000 students from Grade 1-10 and youth with essential digital skills and expertise.
The program’s primary objective is to provide digital literacy and skilling initiatives to students and youth from underprivileged backgrounds, enabling them to navigate the digital world with confidence and ease. Through interactive and project-based learning, the program will focus on developing essential digital skills, such as coding, data analysis, and digital communication.
The Digital Literacy Program will be conducted via an age-appropriate curriculum, designed specifically for students and youth from marginalized regions. The program will be delivered through a combination of online and offline sessions, utilizing ASUS’s cutting-edge technology and innovative learning methods.
The program’s launch marks a significant milestone in ASUS’s efforts to promote digital inclusion and social responsibility. By partnering with VIDYA, a renowned non-profit organization, ASUS aims to create a sustainable impact in the lives of these students and youth.
According to the United Nations, over 3.8 billion people, or 51% of the global population, are still offline, lacking access to the internet and digital technologies. This digital divide has significant consequences, including limited access to education, employment, and healthcare opportunities. The Digital Literacy Program aims to bridge this gap by providing marginalized students and youth with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive in the digital age.
The program will also focus on promoting digital citizenship, online safety, and cybersecurity awareness, enabling students and youth to navigate the digital world responsibly and safely. By imparting these essential skills, the program aims to empower the next generation to become active participants in the digital economy, driving innovation and growth in their communities.
“We are thrilled to launch this Digital Literacy Program in partnership with VIDYA,” said Mr. Vivek Mathur, Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at ASUS India. “Our goal is to empower the next generation with the digital skills and expertise they need to succeed in the modern world. We believe that technology has the power to transform lives, and we are committed to using our expertise and resources to make a positive impact in the communities we serve.”
The Digital Literacy Program will be implemented in phases, with the first phase focusing on the western regions of India, including states such as Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Rajasthan. The program will be rolled out in partnership with local schools, colleges, and community centers, ensuring that the program reaches the maximum number of students and youth.
The program’s success will be measured through a range of indicators, including the number of students and youth equipped with digital skills, the improvement in their digital literacy levels, and the impact on their overall educational and career prospects.
In conclusion, the Digital Literacy Program launched by ASUS and VIDYA marks a significant step towards promoting digital inclusion and social responsibility. By empowering marginalized students and youth with essential digital skills and expertise, the program aims to create a sustainable impact in their lives and communities.
