ASUS & VIDYA Launch Digital Literacy Drive for 6,000+ Students
In a significant move to bridge the digital divide and equip the next generation with essential digital skills, ASUS, a leading global technology company, has announced the commencement of its Digital Literacy Program in association with VIDYA, a non-profit organization. The program aims to provide digital literacy and skilling initiatives to over 6,000 students from Grade 1-10, as well as youth, in the marginalized regions of Western India.
The Digital Literacy Program is designed to focus on equipping students and youth with the necessary skills and digital expertise to navigate the digital world. Through interactive and project-based learning, the program will impart essential digital skills, such as coding, data analysis, and digital art, using an age-appropriate curriculum. The program’s primary objective is to empower students and youth from underprivileged backgrounds with the tools and knowledge required to succeed in today’s digital age.
The program will be implemented through a network of VIDYA’s existing centers and schools in Western India, where ASUS will provide digital infrastructure and resources to support the initiative. The program will be led by a team of experienced educators and trainers who will work closely with students and youth to ensure their seamless learning experience.
The Digital Literacy Program is a significant initiative, particularly in India, where digital literacy is often a significant barrier to social and economic mobility. According to a report by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, only 34% of Indian households have access to the internet, and only 21% of rural households have access to computers. The program aims to address this digital divide by providing underprivileged students and youth with the skills and knowledge required to participate fully in the digital economy.
“We are thrilled to partner with VIDYA to launch this ambitious digital literacy program,” said said a spokesperson from ASUS. “Our goal is to empower the next generation with the digital skills required to succeed in today’s fast-paced digital world. We believe that this program will not only improve digital literacy but also enable students and youth to become active contributors to the digital economy.”
The program will also focus on building essential life skills, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration, which are critical for success in the digital age. The program will also provide students and youth with opportunities to develop their creativity and innovation skills through digital art, music, and animation.
The Digital Literacy Program is part of ASUS’s broader corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, which focuses on promoting digital inclusion and education. The program builds on ASUS’s existing initiatives, such as its “Asus for Education” program, which provides educational resources and technology to schools and students around the world.
In conclusion, the Digital Literacy Program launched by ASUS and VIDYA is a significant initiative that aims to empower underprivileged students and youth with essential digital skills and knowledge. The program’s focus on interactive and project-based learning, age-appropriate curriculum, and emphasis on building essential life skills make it an innovative and effective approach to digital literacy. As the program rolls out, it is expected to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of students and youth in Western India, equipping them with the skills and expertise required to succeed in the digital age.
