Microsoft & Govt Launch AI Training Program Across 6 Indian States
The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Microsoft to launch the ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative, a groundbreaking program aimed at empowering 20,000 women across six Indian states with Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills. This comprehensive training program offers a 240-hour curriculum, certifications, and career support, specifically designed for women to strengthen their digital skills and create pathways to high-growth careers in the AI industry.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a significant step towards bridging the gender gap in the tech industry, which has long been dominated by men. Women have historically been underrepresented in STEM fields, and this program aims to change that narrative by providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to succeed in the AI sector.
The six Indian states that will benefit from this program are Maharashtra, Telangana, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Gujarat. These states were chosen based on their strong presence in the tech industry, as well as their high demand for skilled professionals in AI and related fields.
The program is designed to be highly comprehensive, covering a range of AI-related topics, including data science, machine learning, and deep learning. Participants will have access to a range of resources, including online courses, instructor-led training, and hands-on projects. The program will also provide career support, including mentorship, resume-building, and interview preparation.
Microsoft has been at the forefront of AI research and development, and its partnership with the MSDE is a testament to its commitment to empowering women in the tech industry. “We believe that AI has the potential to transform industries and improve lives, and we want to ensure that women have equal access to the opportunities that this technology presents,” said Microsoft India’s Managing Director, Anant Maheshwari.
The MSDE has also expressed its enthusiasm for the program, stating that it is committed to creating a more inclusive and diverse tech industry in India. “We are excited to partner with Microsoft on this initiative, which has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of women in India,” said MSDE’s Secretary, Rajesh Aggarwal.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is part of a broader effort to promote digital literacy and skill development among women in India. The MSDE has already launched several initiatives aimed at empowering women in the tech industry, including the ‘Saksham’ program, which provides training and placement opportunities for women in the IT sector.
The AI training program is expected to have a significant impact on the Indian economy, as it will provide a skilled and diverse workforce to meet the growing demand for AI professionals. According to a report by the International Labor Organization (ILO), the demand for AI professionals in India is expected to grow by 20% annually over the next five years.
In conclusion, the ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a groundbreaking program that has the potential to make a significant impact on the lives of thousands of women in India. By providing them with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the AI industry, this program aims to bridge the gender gap in the tech industry and create a more inclusive and diverse workforce.
