Microsoft & Govt Launch AI Training Program Across 6 Indian States
In a significant initiative to bridge the digital skills gap and empower women in the tech industry, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Microsoft to launch the ‘AI Careers for Women’ program. This comprehensive program is designed to provide women with a unique opportunity to acquire skills in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), opening up new career paths in the rapidly growing AI industry.
The program, which aims to train 20,000 women across six Indian states, will offer a 240-hour AI training curriculum, along with certifications and career support. This initiative is a significant step towards promoting digital literacy and creating a more inclusive tech ecosystem in India.
The six states that will benefit from this initiative are Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh. These states have been identified as key regions with a high potential for growth and development, and the program is expected to have a significant impact on the local economies.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ program is designed to address the pressing issue of women’s participation in the tech industry. Despite the growing demand for AI and ML professionals, women remain underrepresented in this field. According to a report by the World Economic Forum, women make up only 28% of the global tech workforce, and the gap is even more pronounced in India.
The program’s training curriculum is designed to equip women with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the AI industry. The course will cover a range of topics, including AI and ML fundamentals, data science, and cloud computing. Additionally, the program will provide participants with certifications from Microsoft and industry-recognized institutions, which will enhance their employability and career prospects.
One of the key features of the program is its focus on career support and mentorship. Participants will have access to industry experts and mentors who will guide them through the program and provide valuable insights into the AI industry. This will help women build a strong network and gain practical experience in the field.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ program is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting digital literacy and creating opportunities for women in the tech industry. The program is also a reflection of Microsoft’s commitment to empowering women and promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry.
In a statement, the Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey, said, “We are delighted to partner with Microsoft to launch this innovative program. Our aim is to equip women with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the AI industry and create a more inclusive and diverse tech ecosystem in India.”
Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President, Jean-Philippe Courtois, added, “At Microsoft, we believe that AI has the potential to transform industries and create new opportunities for growth and development. We are committed to empowering women and promoting diversity and inclusion in the tech industry, and this program is an important step towards achieving this goal.”
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ program is a significant step towards promoting digital literacy and creating opportunities for women in the tech industry. With its comprehensive training curriculum, certifications, and career support, the program is poised to make a meaningful impact on the lives of thousands of women across six Indian states.
