Microsoft & Govt Launch AI Training Program Across 6 Indian States
In a significant move aimed at empowering women in the artificial intelligence (AI) industry, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has partnered with Microsoft to launch the ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative. This program offers a comprehensive 240-hour AI training curriculum, along with certifications and career support, specifically designed for women. The program aims to strengthen digital skills and create pathways to high-growth careers in the AI industry.
Under this initiative, 20,000 women from six Indian states â Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana â will be trained in AI skills. The training program will be conducted by Microsoft’s partners, including Mphasis, Tech Mahindra, and Wipro, among others. The program is expected to create a pool of skilled AI professionals, particularly among women, who can contribute to the growth of the AI industry in India.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is part of the government’s efforts to promote digital literacy and bridge the gender gap in the tech industry. The program is designed to equip women with the skills required to succeed in the AI industry, including data science, machine learning, and cloud computing. The training program will be delivered through a combination of online and offline modules, making it accessible to women from diverse backgrounds.
The program’s curriculum has been designed in collaboration with industry experts and will cover topics such as AI fundamentals, machine learning, data analytics, and cloud computing. The training will be delivered by Microsoft-certified trainers, ensuring that participants gain hands-on experience and industry-recognized certifications.
One of the key objectives of the program is to provide career support to the participants. Microsoft has partnered with leading companies in the AI industry to offer internships, job placements, and mentorship opportunities to the trained women. This will enable them to leverage their new skills and transition into high-growth careers in the AI industry.
The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative is a significant step towards promoting gender diversity in the tech industry. Women continue to be underrepresented in the AI industry, with a significant gap in terms of skills, experience, and opportunities. The program aims to bridge this gap by providing women with the skills, knowledge, and support required to succeed in the AI industry.
The program is also expected to have a positive impact on the economy. As India’s AI industry grows, the demand for skilled professionals is increasing rapidly. The ‘AI Careers for Women’ initiative will help meet this demand, enabling women to contribute to the growth of the industry and create new job opportunities.
