The youths, who were lured by fake job ads on social media, promising work abroad, were taken to Myanmar after reaching Thailand. The authorities acted swiftly to bring them back, and the rescued youths are now undergoing counselling to help them recover from the trauma.
According to reports, the youths, all young men from Jammu and Kashmir, were contacted by the scammers through social media platforms, which promised them lucrative jobs in foreign countries. The scammers claimed to be representatives of a reputed company and convinced the youths to pay a hefty amount to secure the job. The youths, unaware of the scam, paid the amount and were promised a job abroad.
However, when they reached Thailand, they were taken to Myanmar, where they were forced to work in inhumane conditions. The youths were subjected to physical and mental torture, and their passports were confiscated by the scammers. They were forced to work long hours without any pay, and their living conditions were deplorable.
The J&K Police received a tip-off about the youths who were trapped in the scam. The authorities acted swiftly and launched an operation to rescue the youths. A team of police officers, led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Altaf Khan, was sent to Myanmar to rescue the youths.
After conducting a thorough investigation, the police rescued the 13 youths and brought them back to India. The J&K Police have launched a campaign to educate the public about the dangers of cyber job scams. The authorities have advised people to be cautious while applying for jobs abroad and to verify the authenticity of the job offers before paying any amount.
The rescued youths have urged the public to be vigilant about such scams and to report any suspicious activity to the authorities. They have also thanked the J&K Police for their swift action in rescuing them and bringing them back to their families.
